SAG Awards Best Dressed Edition: Katrina Bowden

On the road to the Oscars we stopped last night to honour both TV and film actors and actresses at the 19th annual Screen Actors Guild Awards. The award ceremony may be more laid back than they others but that doesn't mean anyone skimped out on the outfits.

My award for Best Dressed at the 2013 SAG Awards goes to Katrina Bowden. Although Modern Family beat out 30 Rock for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series, Katrina was a top contender for best dressed on many lists thanks to her stylist and Badgley Mischka.

I know I usually don't give props to the Golden boys of Hollywood but I had no choice after seeing Mr. Bradley Cooper in Tom Ford last night. I believe he deserves an award for his role in Silver Linings Playbook but in the meantime he will just have to settle for an award from this girl right here!

Golden Globe Awards Best Dressed Edition: Kate Hudson

The 2013 Golden Globes were held last Sunday night at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Hollywood. The award ceremony where the Hollywood Foreign Press honours the best of TV and film delivered a lot of laughs thanks to Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, but it also delivered so many fashion hits, misses, and just plain "WTF" moments.

My award for the Best Dressed of the 2013 Golden Globes goes to Kate Hudson; who presented, alongside Bradley Cooper, the Best Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture to Christopher Waltz for his performance in Django Unchained

The Top 5 Fashion Marketing Campaigns of 2012: #1

And finally the Number 1 Top Marketing Campaign of 2012: The Relaunch of The Coveteur

Even though Mini Anna Wintour might have never heard of the Coveteur, the Canadian team behind the widely popular site caught the attention of everyone with their "Mini Coveteurs" YouTube creation to announce they were relaunching the already famous site.

The Video:

Why it made the list: Creativity, for one. It was brilliant. Nothing has been done like it and I can honestly say they make me proud to be Canadian. The site, completely unique in theory, has definitely broken new ground and provide a unique experience for fashion lovers everywhere. With the relaunch came the ability for users to create their own profiles on the site and "covet" looks they love while shopping the closets of the fashionable Coveteurs!

That concludes my list of the Top Five Marketing Campaigns of 2012. Did I miss anyone? I want to know who YOU thought make a splash this year!

The Top 5 Fashion Marketing Campaigns of 2012: #2

It was tough to choose between the second and first place spot on the list but here it is...

Number 2: Anna Dello Russo for H&M

All I need to say is "fashion shower" and immediately images of AdR running around decked out in her gold and turquoise accessories should pop in your head!

The store, known for its many collaborations,  pulled out all the stops for the Italian fashion editor and her capsule collection. Rightfully so, AdR's influence on street style blogs has made her a well known brand, one known for over-the-top luxury. Her outrageous baroque creations flew off the shelf in no time.

Why it made the list: Everything about this collaboration was just right, once the media got wind of it they were all over it. How could they not be? AdR is a media darling on all platforms: magazine and online especially, not to mention the tremendous amount of social media buzz the editor draws in. Launching a line with someone other than a designer was a first for the Swedish brand, but it was probably one of the best collaborations they could of done, proving once again not only do they know their target demographic but they know exactly how to reach them.

Who made it to number 1? Stay tuned!

Third on my list of the Top Five Fashion Marketing Campaigns of 2012...

Number 3: The Kenzo sweatshirt

You know the one: the tiger print, the bright colours, and that one street shot from fashion week that started the craze. I even blogged about it, see here.

The Picture:

Why it made the list: Well for one, I don't think this was an intentional marketing campaign, which is the perfect example of the power of street style. Yes, there is much speculation lately about designers paying the street style celebrities to wear their threads, although I don't think that is the case here. Elena Perminova (in the Kenzo sweatshirt) and her fashion week sidekick Miroslava Duma chose to dress quite cheeky for the Spring 2013 RTW shows and paired with those high waisted jean shorts, she caught everyone's attention. Perminova was just one of the many to rock the sweater and the result? Kenzo became a household name and they sold a few sweaters in the process. So many that Kenzo can hardly keep up with the demand for the now-famous sweatshirt.

Kenzo even handed out animal cookies from Momofuku Milk Bar at their Spring 2013 show. Its safe to say the tiger is now synonymous with Kenzo.

Who will come in on top? It was a close call but someone has to be the winner. Stay tuned for the top two campaigns of the year. The results might even shock you.

Next on my list of the Top Five Fashion Marketing Campaigns of 2012...

Number 4: DvF [through Glass]

"When I was a young girl I did not know what I wanted to do, except that I knew the woman I wanted to be." - DvF

Before the video was posted on Google's YouTube account the world watched as models walked down the runway with very peculiar looking spectacles, the Google glasses.  Weird or not, she caught our attention. Especially when DvF herself and the Google boys made an appearance at the end of the show in the glasses.

Narrated by Diane, the video begins with the rhythmic beats of Rebecca & Fiona's haunting hit "Dance" and immediately we are transported into a day in the life of one of the most influential American designers during the chaos that is known as Fashion Week as she gets ready for her Spring 2013 show.

The Video:

Why it made the list: In terms of mixing technology and fashion, DvF did it organically: she planted a seed on the runway which peeked our interest and once the video hit YouTube, you had to watch it. The DvF team is constantly modernizing the brand in subtle ways while staying true to her mission: she will always design for the strong independent woman, the woman she has always desired to be and has inevitably become.

Who's next on the list? You'll just have to wait and see!

The Top 5 Fashion Marketing Campaigns of 2012: #5

It goes way past the runways and the pages of magazines; in order to reach consumers brands not only have to represent on social media platforms, but also break new grounds to get some serious share of mind.

Here is my list of the the Top Five Fashion Marketing Campaigns of 2012...

Starting with Number 5: Adidas "Originals" commercial

You couldn't watch a YouTube video without seeing this ad roll before it, not to mention the spot featured Nicki Minaj's very catchy hit "Masquerade".

The A-listers: Nicki Minaj, Jeremy Scott, Big Sean, Derrick Rose, and Sky Ferreira

The Video:

Why it made the list: Total social media dominance. Also, if there was ever a year for Nicki Minaj's many personalities to shine, it was 2012 and what better way to capitalize on her success and the success of many other 2012 breakout stars like Sky and Big Sean then to show them on the street in their Adidas. The commercial, the song, the colours, and the vibe all came together to produce this memorable spot, proving that Adidas still knows how to "Walk this Way".

Stay tuned as we countdown all the way to number one to find out who dominated 2012!
