Love It or Leave It: Printed Denim

Richie in Isabel Marant

L.O.V.E it! Printed denim has to be my new favourite trend because it hasn't been thrown across ever magazine page just yet.

Of course, Nicole Richie sported a pair of Isabel Marant Renell embroidered skinny jeans and now I'm hooked.

Pair them with flats or heels and to dress them up or down.

Fashion Quote of the Week: Daphne Guinnes

At a David Bowie–inspired editorial for German Vogue:

"Teresa Alfonso, Guinness’s personal assistant, tried to get her to eat some of the pasta that had been prepared for the production team. “If I eat, I can’t work,” Guinness, who had been subsisting on Red Bull and Ensure, said. “I’ll eat when I’m dead.”"

Vintage Picks of the Week

With New York Fashion Week finishing and London Fashion Week beginning everyone’s eyes are peeled for the newest, hottest trends seen on the runways. However, sometimes nothing can compare to finding a rare piece of vintage jewelry that carries with it a story and a connection to the past. 1stDibs.com is a wonderful site dedicated to bringing everything from rare vintage estate jewelry to beautiful home décor, and every once in a while I scour the catalogue for dream pieces.

These are my top Vintage Picks for the week:

1. Lucifer Vir Honestus Massive Gold and Rutilated Quartz RingItaly, 20th Century

London Fashion Week: Matthew Williamson Spring 2012 Ready-To-Wear Collection

It appears the Matthew Williamson collection is expanding far beyond the patrons of St Tropez and Nikki Beach. According to the designer himself, “this is a wardrobe for a woman wherever she may be.” – via Style.com

Anja Rubik opened the show walking to Lykke Li’s “I Follow Rivers” and it became apparent very quickly exactly what the collection would look like. The collection was filled with bright patterns, mixes of solids and prints, ostrich feathers, and silk pieces. The colour palette is perfect for the Spring and there is no doubt in my mind that his pieces will be seen everywhere come the warmer months.

Perfect for traveling and going from day to night, once again Williamson proves himself to be the designer to rule the Spring runway. What works best with the new collection? Williamson picked Charlotte Olympia pumps to complete each look.

Since not everyone is as lucky to experience the collection front row here is the video, provided by NYMag.com:

NYFW: Rachel Zoe Spring 2012 Ready-To-Wear Collection

Like a true American designer, clean lines and simple details make up the Rachel Zoe collection. Something seen off the runways of Tommy Hilfiger or Ralph Lauren, however Zoe, like Michael Kors, doesn’t disappoint and offers pieces that bring “easy glamour” into any girl’s wardrobe. Zoe credits YSL and Halston for her inspiration and always tries to bring the 70s and a vintage feel to each piece.

The best part of the collection: each piece is perfectly styled! Anyone has the ability to buy the entire look bringing a whole new definition to the term “ready to wear.”

The Bunnies Have Arrived: The Playboy Club premiers tonight on Citytv

If you thought Playboy had come and gone, you couldn’t be more wrong. Expanding the franchise way beyond the pages of the magazine and the reality TV show, “The Girls Next Door,” it seems Hef has hired the right people to keep the brand alive.

First, bringing some fun to the runways of New York Fashion Week, The Blonds debuted a collection inspired by the classic Playboy Bunny uniform. The Spring 2012 Ready-to-wear collection was accepted in good humour by the fashion elite:

"Dear The Blonds,
Thanks for putting on the most fun show of fashion week. After days of sitting properly watching lovely shift dresses walk back and forth, it was really great to mingle with the over-the-top crowd and cheer for the models. And the clothes, they were great too. Because there’s nothing to counter this season’s sedated sex appeal like Phillip Blond dressed as a Playboy Bunny. And he looked better than most of the Hef’s actual bunnies, too. (Did we mention Playboy sponsored the show?)
Sincerely yours,
Steff"

Perfectly timed with the end of NYFW, premiering tonight at 10PM on Citytv is the highly anticipated “The Playboy Club” starring Eddie Cibrian and newbie Amber Heard. The show is set in 1963 at the first Playboy Club in Chicago.

NYFW: Marchesa Spring 2012 Ready-To-Wear Collection

It’s no secret that I adore Marchesa, my top picks for each award show always have at least one—if not all—Marchesa creations. When I first heard the chosen theme was “Under the Sea” I must admit I was a bit skeptical. Not to say it couldn’t be done tasteful but there is a very fine line between the couture and the plain out tacky. Inspired by the painting Sadko in the Underwater Kingdom by the Russian artist Ilya Repin as well as the jellyfish drawings of Ernst Haeckel, Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig produced a truly whimsical line. The pieces speak for themselves and of course, in true Marchesa form, leave you speechless and wanting one of each!
