DEBUT: Rebecca & Fiona - Taken Over (ft. Style of Eye)

This year I was lucky to catch a film at TIFF entitled, Call Girl. The film, awarded with the FIPRESCI (international film critics) Award for Best Film in the Discovery programme, centres around the 1970s prostitution scandal involving the Swedish government.

The film follows two troubled young teen girls who find themselves as somewhat of "It girls" thank to the help of their Madame after they become prostitutes. The girls who are constantly struggling between their morals and self respect, learn just how hard it is to escape their new lives. Luckily, two detectives are hot on the trail of uncovering the elaborate prostitution ring involving some of the most revered government officials, and by the end no one is safe.

What does this have to do with the much anticipated new single from Rebecca & Fiona?

Well, after I watched the video for the first time, posted on the girls' Facebook page, I felt a certain uncanny familiarity wash over me: I knew I had seen it before.

Its rumoured the Swedish singers were inspired by the event, one of the greatest scandals in Swedish history and decided to make it the theme of the video. I'm not sure if Mikael Marcimain, the director of Call Girl has seen the new music video but I personally think both Rebecca and Fiona have made quite the artistic statement with it, once again making them artists to watch for 2013!
