The Princess Bride Wore McQueen

Would the designer be British? Would it be a replica of Diana's? The questions surrounding the wedding dress caused just as much hype as the wedding itself. Kate Middleton chose to wait until the big day to reveal her choice of designer and style, but it didn't mean designers themselves couldn't have their own fun designing dresses for her. Check out the designs from Project Runway contestants if they got the chance to dress the blushing bride.

After the long wait I am pleased to announce that Middleton chose an Alexander McQueen dress designed by Sarah Burton today as she wed Prince William. The dress, ivory and white satin with lace sleeves and shoulders, was absolutely beautiful and was exactly what a wedding dress should be: a reflection of the bride herself.

The wedding began at 3am here and in case you missed it CNN is replaying the ceremony all day on CNN.com.
