Friday Fun: Badminton Birdies on the Runway

Points for being original? Thom Browne decided that looking natural and taking a minimalist approach to makeup on the runway was too boring so to shake it up models walked down the runway meant to look like marble statues with badminton birdies on their heads, because, why not? Fashion week ladies and gents, not for the faint of heart.

Beauty Product of the Week: the only bronzer you'll ever need

Honey Bronze Bronzer from Body Shop

I must admit, I don't usually go into Body Shop for beauty products but I am so glad I did because I have discovered one of the best bronzers I've ever used. If you are new to Valley of the Dolls Blog you should know one thing about me: the only makeup I wear day-to-day is bronzer and mascara, so I consider myself an expert in both of those categories.

Back to the miracle bronzer, it is a bronzing face gel, I've only ever used powder-based bronzer but I believe that this is gel is revolutionary for three reasons: 1) even coverage all over my face, 2) although the gel appears to be heavy once applied it is quite light, 3) it lasts all day. If that isn't the holy trinity of a perfect bronzer I don't know what is!

Get into Body Shop now and check out their Honey Bronze collection.

Beauty Product of the Week: EyeInk by Annabelle

The Greatest Liquid Liner: EyeInk by Annabelle
As you may or may not know, I am a fan of liquid liner. Maybe its because I was a competitive dancer and winged-eyeliner was mandatory on the stage and I grew up using only MAC liquid liner; regardless I've finally found one that is on the same level as my beloved MAC and for a very affordable price of $9.95!

Try it out and let me know what you think!

Beauty Product of the Week: Bumble and bumble Dry Shampoo

Bumble and bumble Dry Shampoo
I read an article once that revolutionized my life and it went a little something like "washing your hair every day makes it more greasy and is bad for you". Since that day I've invested in dry shampoos, for the most I've use the tried and tested true Batiste dry shampoo but on a recent trip to Sephora I tried out the Prêt-à-Powder Bumble and bumble dry shampoo and think I may have to make it my go to. The best part was that it actually did volumize my hair rather than just cover up my day-old hair. Available for $31 at Sephora here.

Beauty Product of the Week: Tom Ford Shanghai Lily Eau De Parfum

Tom Ford Shanghai Lily Eau De Parfum
Confession time, I've been wearing Vera Wang Princess as my go-to perfume for a very long time. Occasionally I will wear Viktor and Rolf Flowerbomb but every so often I take a walk into Sephora and end up leaving overwhelmed and sneezing from trying out too many odours.

On a quick trip into Holt Renfrew atop the escalators was a row of Tom Ford perfumes, I tried to test out each bottle but the one that stuck out the most was the exotically named: Shanghai Lily.

The eau de parfum is a mixture of warm spices, elegant florals, and hints of vanilla and frankincense. Needless to say, I'm still thinking about it and may make it my signature scent.

Do you have a signature scent? Its important to remember certain smells will mix with your own skin to create a truly unique experience.
